[edit] Financial considerations

There are numerous challenging situations that the adult trainers have to cope with while the training process is underway. Additional challenging situations may also occur outside of the training process; examples include specific requests from the adult participants, emerging needs for the design of specific instructional material, problems that emerge and indirectly affect the training process, and more. Adult trainers are called to address many different situations and to carefully plan, organize, manage, and carry out training sessions. As a result, it is of great importance to provide them with opportunities to be purely focused on the instruction and not to be distressed with the logistical and economic considerations related to training, such as costs for using specific technology, cost for printed-out material, cost for educational resources, and more.

It is equally important to provide trainers with opportunities to participate in continuing teacher training at a low or no cost. High cost and unreasonable fees may discourage adult trainers from undertaking training. It is also of great importance for trainers to be provided with opportunities for participation in international teacher training structures. This will allow them to approach adult learning from a wider and European perspective, to critically reflect upon training practices and ways to overcome barriers, and to creatively set their training strategies for motivating adult learners and challenging their thinking.

Where fees or costs apply, it is important to offer adult trainers alternative solutions such as opportunities for grants, discounts, and financial support schemes. The establishment of structures where information about funding opportunities can be retrieved would be beneficial for adult trainers. In general, good cost/quality ratio for training expenditures may encourage trainers to participate in professional development programmes exposing them to effective and continuous formal and informal training opportunities.
